Procyon
Procyon is intended to be an application to facilitate the management of "artifacts".
From WordNet (r) 3.0 (2006) [wn]:
artifact
n 1: a man-made object taken as a whole [syn: {artifact},
{artefact}] [ant: {natural object}]
The main focus of Procyon is to empower users with the ability to easily manage their media collections, whether it be TV series, movies or music. Management of these collections would include the ability to attach additional metadata to items as well as to use external services to obtain additional metadata about them. For example, being able to retrieve episode overviews, ratings, air dates, etc. for TV episodes; perhaps also the ability to specify the level of desire to partake in a particular piece of media, any comments on the media and whether the media has already been viewed/listened to.
A secondary focus would be the ability to share this metadata with other people who have accounts on the service, perhaps letting them comment on the media or allowing them to add their own personal information to a particular artifact that might already be in the possession of another user.
Procyon is not intended to be a public social service but instead one to allow people, in reasonably close proximity, sharing a media service to better manage their data.
EdgeVerse
EdgeVerse will be a public installation of the Procyon codebase; among other things, this will facilitate wider-spread sharing between users
The goal is that eventually you'll be able to keep tabs on the content you're interested in, via RSS/ATOM feeds or email (?). Additionally, you'll be able to find out what other people, who share common interests, are tracking.
